Understanding the Tour de France requires understanding bicycle
racing in every aspect. First, you must understand stage race
formatting and its strategic implications.
Then you have to understand fitness characteristics relative to race
formatting, team structuring, offensive and defensive strategies,
the implications of competition for the sub titles, racing
traditions and customs, and some basic rules about the time game of
stage racing.
Analyzing the Tour de France is a great learning opportunity but I
